What is Offshore Racing?
Offshore racing is extremely fun and exciting, yet a dangerous sport that takes place in bays, lakes and oceans across the country. It involves very fast boats, huge crowds and beautiful scenery. This sport is so enjoyable to watch because it is so unpredictable and arouses a viewer's interest and generates energy every time a boat is in the water. There are four major professional organizations that are involved with offshore racing. They are:

- 7.6 million people participated in boating
activities in 2006.
- 97 million households can access OSS race
coverage through the Fox Sports Network.
- More than 39 billion dollars spent on boating
activities for new and used boats.
- Items include motors and engines, safety
equipment, fuel, insurance, docking,

repairs, and other expenses.
- Consumers purchased 940,800 new boats
in 2006.
- 46.2% of boating participants are female.
- $81,000 is the median income of the U.S.
powerboating population.
- 48% of boat owners work in managerial,

income is $119,112 and average household
income is $161,526.
